- Biography:
Olof Korp was born in February 1826 in Köla, Värmland. Köla is in western Värmland in the mountains near the Norwegian border. Preliminary data from a review of IGI microfiche suggests that his patronymic name might be Olsson - listing of marriage between Olof Olsson and Karin Persdotter in Värmland at appropriate time. Korp is undoubtedly a soldier's name. As of now, I have not identified the parents of Olof Korp.
He was married to Karin Persdotter sometime before 1854, probably in Värmland. They had had 5 surviving children through 1867; others may exist.
His first child Jordan was born in Nore bruk, near Eda in Värmland, which was probably a mining or iron refining community. This suggests that Olof worked as a miner or a foundryman.
I have found no information on his death or where he might be buried.
